Every 20 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma. Having a stem cell transplant is often the only or final treatment option for blood cancer patients. DKMS UK, part of a global group, register blood stem cell donors in the UK, and supports them to donate their stem cells to blood cancer patients in need of a life-saving transplant.
Olive Yu, colleague at ING in the UK, knows only too well how important it can be to find a matching stem cell donor. Her young daughter, Livia, received a transplant in 2020 following a diagnosis of leukaemia. Livia is now a healthy girl, doing what all girls her age should be able to, enjoying a carefree childhood.
The partnership between ING will enable directors, senior leadership and employees to support DKMS’ lifesaving work in multiple ways from joining the UK stem cell register, to taking part in fundraising initiatives and helping to raise awareness of the need to register more potential lifesavers.
It costs DKMS £40 to regsiter each potential lifesaver and a key aspect of the partnership is helping to fund these vital registrations. Please donate and fundraise to find more lifesav-ING donors.
