Fahad, 29, lives in London with his wife, his daughter, 3, and his son, 1. He was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma in September 2020 after having symptoms of fatigue and itchy skin. Fahad received seven rounds of chemotherapy and is now searching for a stem cell donor. Finding a matching donor for Fahad may be more difficult due to his Pakistani heritage. Patients from white European backgrounds are three times more likely to find their perfect donor match than people from minority ethnic backgrounds.
Every 20 minutes someone in the UK, like Fahad, is diagnosed with blood cancer. Often their best hope of survival is a stem cell transplant from a stranger and DKMS works hard to add as many potential lifesavers to the blood stem cell registry as possible.
The money you raise and donate will add more potentially life-saving matches to this register, as adding each one costs DKMS £40, and give more people with blood cancer and blood disorders a second chance at life.
