“He is the best dad in the world.”
Terry is a much-loved dad of two and grandfather of three. Tragically, he has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and needs a stem cell transplant to give him a second chance at life.
33-year-old Jess from Cambridgeshire is his daughter who is desperate to keep her family together. Her dad, Terry, is in a race against time to find a suitable donor.
Jess explains: “My dad tested positive for Covid in November. But he was getting worse and worse – he couldn’t sit up or walk and his symptoms weren’t improving. I persuaded his GP to send him to the hospital, and within a few hours of being in A&E, we heard the devasting news – he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.”
“Unfortunately, chemotherapy won’t be enough to save him. In order to survive, my dad needs a stem cell transplant. Tragically, there is currently no match for him on the stem cell register.”
“I felt devastated and desperate hearing that. Dad is being really brave, keeping positive and fighting as hard as he can. But there’s only so much he can do now. It’s up to someone else to come and save him and he needs that help really quickly.”
She continues: “Terry is the best dad in the world. He is normally a fit, healthy and fun dad and grandad who is always busy travelling, painting, and spending time with family and friends. He has been training as an artist which is his lifelong ambition and has in recent years come to fruition. Sadly, this has been put on hold while he receives treatment.”
“We would all hope someone would come forward and save us or a loved one in need and to hear there is no match is devastating.”
