My Story
Chasetown Civil Engineering - Three Welsh Peaks Challenge 2023 – DKMS UK
On the 9th June, a determined team of 20 from Chasetown Civil Engineering will be taking on the Three Welsh Peaks in support of blood cancer charity DKMS.
In under 24 hours we will trek around 17 miles and ascend to a total height exceeding 2,300m summitting Yr Wyddfa, the tallest peak in Wales and the highest point in Britain outside the Scottish highlands; Cadair Idris, a spectacular peak at the southerly edge of Eryri National Park; and Pen y Fan, the highest peak in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park National Park in South Wales.
This is a tough challenge which requires a good level of fitness as well as plenty of grit and determination. Although the challenge won’t be taking place until June, our team are out training every weekend walking around their local parks, nearest hills and even mountains across England & Wales! Our hard work will be rewarded with spectacular views and a huge sense of achievement whilst raising money for a well deserving charity, UK | DKMS.
Every 20 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. Often their only hope of survival is a stem cell transplant from a complete stranger, DKMS works hard to add as many potential lifesavers to the blood stem cell registry as possible. The money we raise will add more potentially life-saving matches to this register, as adding each one costs DKMS £40, and give more blood cancer patients a second chance at life.
When you have 5 minutes spare, please take a look on their website to see what they do to change and save so many lives.
We have set our fundraising goal at an ambitious but achievable £10k. All donations are gratefully received.
Thank you for your support.
